Appen will analyse and make recommendations on the language of collection. This includes analysis of the dialects of a language and recommendations on the proportions of speakers that should be collected from various dialectal groups and regions. It can also make recommendations on project details such as the number of speakers and demographic diversity. For scripted speech data collections, Appen can capture and prepare language materials and develop reading scripts. This includes language and country-specific information, such as the most common people names, place names and company names, as well as common words, digit representations and phonetically rich materials. Recommendations on reading script content and structure are also provided.

Appen has extensive experience in the development of appropriate domain specific and language specific materials and reading scripts, with deep linguistic knowledge built across a range of projects in various languages.
